Snow on the ground, candles glowing, red and green abounds!  I thought I'd share a few more links that have led me to interesting items.  With the holidays now approaching I wanted to share with an eye toward the holidays.

What are the holidays without food and sweet treats!

Of course one of my favorite things about the holidays are the craft projects.  I love to create something just for this time of year.

I really like this little snowman and I think he'd look great on my front door!

All that's left to do is frame them.  Here's the first 4 pictures I have done in tiles.  It's been a great learning experience.  I have several more to do, but my help has been a bit slow about cutting the backboards for me.  I guess besides learning how to make frames, I'm gonna have to learn how to use the power saw.  It's a lot of fun to see one of these come together.  It takes about a week to make sure there are enough thin coats of the sealer to protect the picture when you drop them in water to remove the decal backing. So by the time I'm ready to put together the jig saw puzzle of a picture I'm more than ready to see how it turned out.  One the frames are done, these will be posted to my shop.

Balloon over the Hay Wagons

I was just getting home from work one evening as I rolled up to the t square intersection and saw this across the road.  The farmer down the road and dropped off the wagons in the field to be ready for picking up the bales the next day.  The balloon we see floating by often was on a late evening flight.  I love the silhouette it created, but if you look closely you can see just a glint of the sun reflecting off the metal of the wagon on the left.

Just a little sharing

I know my primary goal with this blog is to share my photography, but I love finding new sites.  Recently because of working with a 20 something college intern I've been turned on to a variety of sites I'd probably never have encountered.  It is so cool!  Kinda like how my kids as teenagers kept me aware of what was new, current, and interesting in their world of MP3's.  So here are a few I've tripped across recently that I wanted to share.

I can't cook, but that doesn't mean I can long for the food she makes up.

I wouldn't mind rolling out my sleeping bag in this one.

While I tend to lean moreh toward vessel sinks, this one is pretty cool.

Snow Storms can be Good

Just makes me shiver!  This wild duck had adopted our neighbor's pond as home.  Winter, summer she was always there.  I took this picture on a cold snowy day.  We had been socked in with the cold.  The duck is actually walking across our neighbor's pond.  I like the fortitude this duck shows!  I've never been a fan of winter, but the world during a snow storm does take on a quiet feel that can soothe the soul. That's how this next picture makes me feel.  All is quiet with the world as the snow silently falls and covers the world in a fresh clean blanket.

Tropical Green

I just love the tropical feel of this picture!  I converted this picture to a watercolor because I liked the way the colors came out with that process.  All the plants make it feel so lush.  This picture always makes me feel like finding the closest lounge chair and a cool drink. :)

Shrimp Boat in the Morning Fog

I took this just this last week on the way to work.  I love living near the water again and I can't think of a better way to start the day then getting to see things like this in the morning.  It's such a peaceful picture and yet, this is just a couple of miles from the Savannah's busy waterfront.  We're just now getting some chilly nights which then causes the morning fog to hover over the marshes.

Bikes and Sailboats

This was taken in the town of Volendam in The Netherlands.  We were having breakfast at an outdoor cafe. What caught my eye was the large number of sailboats along with the bikes in front, but when I saw this picture I was please at how the white from the tires of the bikes 'popped'.

All Things Crafty

Craft Gawker.  No it has nothing to do with my photography, but it's a wonderful site filled with all sorts of crafts and ideas.  If you enjoy crafts from jewerly to pottery to sewing.  Check out this site.

Enjoy!

The Red Door

Just down at the bottom of the mountain in Sperryville, VA sits a group of old tourist cabins.  This one cabin seemed stuck in time with the metal and vinyl chairs waiting for the next occupants to sit and watch the traffic go by.  I wanted to bring the viewers eye to this particular cabin, so I converted everything except the door to black and white.  I guess you could say it's a door through time.......

Barn Behind the Hill

I commuted 80 miles from home and would try to stay on the back roads as much as possible.  I find them infinitely more interesting than the interstates.   I took this picture one early spring afternoon.  I liked how the flat gray of the clouds played against the gray on the roof.
